Concrete volume formulas
For rectangular slabs, footings, and walls: Volume = length × width × depth. For a round column: Volume = π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × height.
Extra allowance
The calculator does not assume a waste or overage percentage. If you want to account for spillage, uneven excavation, form variation, or ordering practices, enter your own extra allowance. Ask your supplier or project professional what is appropriate for your job.
About concrete and cement
Concrete and cement are not interchangeable terms: cement is a component used to make concrete. This calculator estimates finished concrete volume, not a mix design or the quantities of cement, aggregate, and water.
Conversion methodology
Dimension conversions use defined U.S. customary-to-SI relationships, and cubic-yard conversion follows NIST conversion factors. One cubic yard is approximately 0.7645549 cubic meter.
Important note
This is a quantity-estimation tool, not structural or mix-design advice. Actual ordering requirements can vary with site conditions, forms, reinforcement, supplier practices, and project specifications.

About the Concrete Calculator
Concrete volume calculations estimate material volume from project dimensions.
What to keep in mind
- Use consistent dimensions and units.
- Actual orders often need allowance for waste, uneven subgrade, or spillage.
- Complex shapes may need to be divided into simpler sections.
